Joseph Durlak advises CASEL on a variety of issues related to action research and program evaluation. He is a leading expert on outcome research related to children’s social and emotional development and the prevention of youth problem behavior. Joe was the lead author of a meta-analysis of more than 200 universal interventions targeting children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 18. An article summarizing this research, published in Child Development in 2011, has become a landmark in SEL research. In 2010 Joe was awarded the Nan Tobler Review of Prevention Science Literature Award, along with Roger Weissberg, by the Society for Prevention Research. He is the lead editor of the Handbook of Social and Emotional Learning: Research and Practice, published by Guilford press in 2015.
