We bring the latest and greatest research on social and emotional learning (SEL).

  • We coined the term social and emotional learning and developed the most popular SEL framework worldwide.
  • We have deepened and expanded knowledge about SEL through hundreds of research publications, as well as conferences and other convenings, webinars, and presentations.
  • Our monthly newsletter reaches more than 60,000 subscribers, and our newsletter for district and school leaders has reached more than 16,000 subscribers
  • We have presented over 100 webinars that have reached over 200,000 people in more than 100 countries.
“As a CASEL partner since 2010, Austin Independent School District has often had the privilege of sharing our journey with other school districts from around the country. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with other educators as we grapple with the complexity of systemic, transformative social and emotional learning (SEL).”

“Collaborating with CASEL staff and others in my Fellows cohort was timed perfectly, given this challenging time. It provided me with a range of lenses with which to see our experience.” Kris Norelius, Olympia School District

Collaboration and Knowledge-Sharing

We assemble SEL champions from across the field to share, learn from each other, and advance their work in their schools, districts, states, and countries. We currently convene and facilitate six communities of practice.

  • Since 2016, the Collaborating States Initiative (CSI) has reached as many as 47 states and the District of Columbia, representing more than 75 percent of districts, schools, teachers, and students in the U.S.
  • Through our Community Network Partners (CNP), the Collaborating States Initiative (CDI) and other engagements, we have impacted students in districts across the country.
  • The CASEL Weissberg Scholars provides educational and professional development and creates a collaborative community of early career scholars who are eager to make a difference with SEL.
  • The Leading With SEL Coalition brings together key voices in education who share a vision for a high-quality education that includes SEL.
“We have been fortunate to have a community on this journey with us as partner districts assembled by CASEL. Through this collaboration, we have built a powerful community of SEL champions who understand the challenges and complexities of education systems, but never waver in our commitment to SEL.” Members of CASEL’s Collaborating Districts Initiative (CDI)

Convening the Field

We host opportunities to gather with the SEL community to share ideas, collaborate, and grow together.

National SEL Week
National SEL Week, our signature annual advocacy event, raises awareness about SEL among legislators and for the wider public through:

The Exchange
Since 2019, CASEL has hosted the Exchange, the world’s largest forum for SEL. This annual convening assembles SEL experts and supports from around the world to connect, share knowledge, and set a path for future work supporting student well-being and success. Each year, the Exchange impacts around 2,000 attendees and presenters.

Why Support CASEL?

Here’s what one of our supporters had to say:

“We know that while technical knowledge will continue to evolve, skills like communication, collaboration, problem-solving, resilience, and self-awareness will remain essential no matter where a student's path leads. That's why Britebound is investing, through our partnership with CASEL, to strengthen the alignment between social and emotional learning and Portrait of a Graduate frameworks. Together, we aim to advance the national conversation around the policies, practices, and research that help schools intentionally develop these durable skills, preparing every young person for lifelong success, however they define it."
· Jing Cox-Orrell, Associate Director Youth Initiatives at Britebound
