CASEL announced that registration is open for the 2023 Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Exchange, the nation’s largest forum on SEL, featuring icons Jewel and Darryl McDaniels.
For the first time since the 2019 conference, the SEL Exchange will be in person from November 7-9, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia. The three-day event will bring together thousands of education leaders and experts from around the world to share and deepen knowledge and spur practical innovations that advance SEL for all young people.
This year’s theme, Leaders as Learners: Building the Village Our Children Need, recognizes that every adult in a young person’s life—family members, educators, coaches, mentors —influences their social, emotional, and academic development. When adults and students alike have meaningful, inclusive opportunities to learn and develop social and emotional skills, we build a village where everyone thrives.
Attendees will experience the latest insights and innovations in SEL, including:
- Featured speaker: Jewel. For decades, this multi-platinum singer has championed mental and emotional well-being through her Inspiring Children Foundation and her free digital community, Jewel Never Broken. She also serves as an ambassador for One Mind, a mental health and brain research organization.
- Featured speaker: Darryl McDaniels (DMC). Co-founder of the legendary hip hop group Run-DMC, Darryl McDaniels has used his story and influence to advocate for youth. In partnership with Nickelodeon, he is teaching young people SEL and literacy through the “What’s the Word?” series. He’s also written a children’s book, Darryl’s Dream, and co-founded The Felix Organization, which serves children in the foster care system.
- Curated sessions from the best of the field. Four plenary sessions, plus more than 150 breakout sessions including featured discussions on school safety and the impact of AI. Sessions will also highlight youth presenters, adult SEL research, international perspectives, and much more!
- Global networking with SEL leaders. The conference is expected to draw more than 2,000 experts from around the world!
