Future readiness isn’t a trend or a buzzword—it’s the make-or-break issue for our schools, workplaces, and communities. It’s also the focus of this year’s CASEL Exchange where leaders are lifting up what decades of research have made clear: social and emotional learning skills aren’t “extras”—they’re the foundation for academic success, workplace performance, and lifelong well-being.

At the heart of social and emotional skill development is emotion regulation, also known as self-management in the CASEL Framework. It’s the foundational skill topping educators’ lists of urgent classroom concerns and it plays a critical role in helping young people focus, collaborate, and thrive. Beyond the classroom, data shows these skills, often labeled as “soft skills”, are linked to workplace readiness and career success. According to LinkedIn’s Most In-Demand Skills of 2024, 7 of the top 11 most in-demand skills—communication, customer service, leadership, management, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability—are inextricably tied to social and emotional skill development.

This session brings together leading voices in research, policy, education, and business to discuss how these skills prepare the next generation with the human skills that fuel relationships, achievement, health, and success. If you care about student success, educator well-being, or tomorrow’s workforce, you won’t want to miss it.

Join us to hear from leading voices in these critical communities on what they are seeing, what works best, and how, together, we can continue the work to prepare students for success.
