The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is announcing that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Fellows Academy, a 10-month, virtual leadership experience designed to strengthen systemic SEL leadership across school districts and regional offices of education nationwide.
The SEL Fellows Academy brings together district and regional SEL leaders to deepen their knowledge of CASEL’s evidence-based framework for SEL implementation, build collaborative leadership practice, and advance strategic implementation in community with fellow leaders across contexts. Throughout the Academy, Fellows engage in monthly workshops, peer inquiry circles, mentorship opportunities, and superintendent engagement activities that support leadership growth and the development of actionable SEL implementation plans and capstone projects.
Applicants must be employed by a school district or regional office of education and responsible for leading SEL implementation in their communities. Prospective Fellows are also required to submit a letter of support from their superintendent or supervisor as part of the application process.
Key dates for the 2026–2027 cohort:
- Application opens: February 3, 2026
- Application deadline: March 31, 2026
- Program duration: 10 months (virtual)
- Fellowship start: August 2026
The SEL Fellows Academy builds on CASEL’s work to expand high-quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning and to cultivate leadership that connects SEL to broader school and district priorities. CASEL Fellows join a growing community of SEL leaders committed to enhancing supportive learning environments and outcomes for students and adults alike.
