Jo Salazar began working for CASEL in 2016 and served as the manager of school supports. In that role, she focused on capturing and codifying information about schoolwide SEL implementation while leading the development of the CASEL Guide to Schoolwide SEL (2019). As a CASEL consultant, Jo supports districts with their implementation of SEL at the school and district levels.
Jo is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and certified school social worker. Prior to her work at CASEL, she served as a school climate specialist for Chicago Public Schools in the Office of Social and Emotional Learning, where she led districtwide professional development sessions to help school teams build multitiered systems of support for social and emotional learning. She earned her master’s degree in school social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in human services from Millikin University.
