Jo Salazar

Manager of School Supports

Jo Salazar’s work at CASEL involves capturing and codifying learning about schoolwide SEL implementation from the field. She is the lead author of the CASEL Guide to Schoolwide SEL (2017) and oversees the development of new School Guide tools and content. Jo is passionate about supporting authentic school-family partnerships and co-authored the SEL Discussion Series for Parents and Caregivers.

Jo is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and certified school social worker. Most recently she worked as a school climate specialist for Chicago Public Schools in the Office of Social and Emotional Learning, where she led districtwide professional development sessions to help school teams build multi-tiered systems of support for social and emotional learning. She earned her master’s degree in school social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in human services from Millikin University.
