Katie Romeo provides research support for continuous improvement as part of the Collaborating Districts Initiative. Before joining CASEL, Katie worked as a research consultant to Prevent School Violence Illinois (PSVI) and as a postdoctoral research associate evaluating the Communities Aligning for School Transformation (CAST) project. In this work, she provided technical assistance and evaluation of bullying reduction and school climate improvement efforts. She earned her Ph.D. in human development from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2014. Katie has also enjoyed many years of working directly with young people as a mentor and teacher, as well as teaching adults who work with youth as an instructor of adolescent psychology courses at UIC.
