Senior District Consultant
Chris Hiroshima works with both the Anchorage and Oakland Unified School Districts. As the Chief Academic Officer for the Antioch (California) Unified School District, she managed and supervised all school operations, academic programs and professional development activities for the district. Between 2003 and 2007 she was associate superintendent for academics and professional development and chief academic officer for the San Francisco Unified School District. Chris has also been an elementary school principal in San Francisco, a program consultant specializing in staff development for the San Francisco Unified School District’s Department of Integration, and an elementary classroom teacher.
Chris has participated on many school reform teams including the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative and the Public Education Leadership Project at Harvard University. Her experience in leading school change and district reform provides districts with practical implementation strategies. Widely recognized in the San Francisco Bay Area for her leadership and coaching of educators in many different curriculum areas and multicultural education, she is a recipient of the Woman Warrior Award from the Pacific Asian American Women’s Bay Area Coalition.
