SEL: What and Why in 15 Minutes
Listen to this short audio interview conducted by Daniel Goleman, and produced by Hanuman Goleman, for an introduction to social and emotional learning. In addition to a very brief history of SEL promotion in schools, this audio defines SEL and the core SEL skills, summarizes some of the documented benefits of SEL including those on academic performance, and gives examples of activities schools are using to promote SEL. Most importantly, this piece includes interviews with teachers, faculty, and students so you can hear firsthand how these individuals have used SEL in their lives and how SEL has improved their school communities.
