Local school districts play a critical role in influencing what happens in schools and classrooms.…
In fall, 2011 the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) will select a second cohort of five large school districts for participation in its Collaborating Districts Initiative (CDI). These districts will join the initial cohort of CDI participants, which includes Anchorage AK, Austin TX, and Cleveland OH.
A number of districts have already been nominated for participation in the CDI. These nominations come from a variety of knowledgeable sources including CASEL district
consultants; Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program providers; and a few from district leaders themselves who responded to a CASEL generated interest survey. Districts nominated by more than one source will be advanced to phase 1 of the selection process. The nominating process will remain open through August 31st, 2011 and interested parties are encouraged to contact Dr. Libia Gil, Vice‐President of Practice at CASEL with additional nominations. The list of nominated districts will be reviewed in August 2011 and CASEL staff will collect additional information relevant to the initial selection criteria as needed.
