SEL in Your State

With funding from the Buena Vista Foundation and NoVo Foundation, CASEL and the University of Illinois at Chicago Social Emotional Learning Research Group are conducting a review of educational standards related to social and emotional learning from preschool to high school in all 50 states and the six territories.  The purpose of the State Scan is to understand whether and how states currently address social and emotional learning in their learning standards–an important step toward achieving the goal that every child receives high quality education in social and emotional learning.  Download a brief report on the preliminary findings from the first year of this two-year project.  Use the dropdown menu below to find out about social and emotional learning in your state.

We are committed to developing well-articulated standards for social and emotional learning, and look forward to partnering with states that are interested in developing and implementing standards for social and emotional learning.  If your state is interested in developing or refining standards for social and emotional learning, and would like to learn more about how CASEL might support you in this process, or if there are any new developments in your state that you would like us to know about or report on our website, please contact us and include “State Scan” in the reasons for contacting us.
