CASEL is dedicated to advancing federal, state, and local education policies that encourage high-quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning. Our vision in the next five years is to encourage 20 states to adopt developmental standards for social and emotional learning, similar to the pioneering standards adopted by Illinois’ in 2004. Similarly, we envision social and emotional learning will become a core element of federal policies that seek to improve school climates, advance academic achievement, and prepare students for a 21st century workforce.
